I would like to start 2020 with a typical recipe of Spanish cuisine: Churros con chocolate! You can enjoy them either for the first breakfast of the year or the first teatime of 2020. It is a perfect comfort food and I am sure your happiness hormone level will hit the roof after eating some churros.
Ingredients
- 1,5 cup water
- 1 cup flour
- ½ coffee spoon baking powder
- ½ coffee spoon salt
- 2-3 coffee spoon sugar ( For coating churros after frying them)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Boil the water, then add dry ingredients (salt-baking powder-flour) while whisking
- Stir for two-three minutes until the dough is consistent and lump free
- Let the dough rest and cool for about 5 minutes
- Fill a churrera (churro maker) or a pastry sleeve with a star tip with the churro dough
- Pipe the dough onto a baking sheet (Please watch the video above)
- Heat the oil to a medium-high heat and slide the churro dough into oil
- When they are golden on the outside take them out and let them rest on paper towel
- Sprinkle the churros with sugar
- Serve them with hot chocolate
