CHURROS

I would like to start 2020 with a typical recipe of Spanish cuisine: Churros con chocolate! You can enjoy them either for the first breakfast of the year or the first teatime of 2020. It is a perfect comfort food and I am sure your happiness hormone level will hit the roof after eating some churros.

Ingredients

  • 1,5 cup water
  • 1 cup flour 
  • ½ coffee spoon baking powder
  • ½ coffee spoon salt
  • 2-3 coffee spoon sugar ( For coating churros after frying them) 
  • Vegetable oil for frying 

Instructions

  1. Boil the water, then add dry ingredients (salt-baking powder-flour) while whisking
  2. Stir for two-three minutes until the dough is consistent and lump free 
  3. Let the dough rest and cool for about 5 minutes
  4. Fill a churrera (churro maker) or a pastry sleeve with a star tip with the churro dough
  5. Pipe the dough onto a baking sheet (Please watch the video above)
  6. Heat the oil to a medium-high heat and slide the churro dough into oil
  7. When they are golden on the outside take them out and let them rest on paper towel
  8. Sprinkle the churros with sugar
  9. Serve them with hot chocolate
